"The Body is a House of Familiar Rooms"
A short documentary film by Eloise Sherrid 16 FAV and Lauryn Welch 15* PT, The Body is a House of Familiar Rooms, is now streaming on The Criterion Channel and has also been on PBS for over a year.
I owe a lot to RISD as I discovered my love of experimental film in FAV and also met my co-director Lauryn Welch.
Film synopsis: The Body is a House of Familiar Rooms is a short magical-realist documentary about life and love with a chronic illness, co-directed by filmmaker Eloise Sherrid and painter Lauryn Welch. Samuel Geiger has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that causes severe chronic pain. This short documentary combines paintings and live-action footage to show how emotions shape his world alongside Lauryn, his partner.
