Recent Publications & Exhibitions

WhiteHot Magazine of Contemporary Art recently published several review by Bruce Helander including: 

• “Through the Looking Glass: Dale Chihuly’s Four Decades of Iconic Work,” at Leila Heller gallery in Dubai.
• “Fields of Amber Waves,” on the exhibition at the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale titled “Glory of the World: Color Field Painting (1950s-1983), which included works by Helen Frankenthaler, Jules Olitski and Kenneth Noland.
• “The Birds & the Bees (& the Flowers & the Trees”) on Hunt Slonem at the San Antonio Botanical Garden
• “Halley’s Neo-Geo DayGlo-Pro Comet,” on Peter Halley’s recent exhibition, “The Mirror Stage,” at the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. 

Additionally, Helander also published latest book, Oceans: The Aquatic Art of Carol Calicchio. His other recent publications on modern masters include books on artists Franz Kline and Alexander Calder published by the Helander Foundation. 

Helander recently exhibited paintings and collages at Contessa Gallery in Southampton. He was the gala chair for the annual Archival Evening of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County where he honored Andy Warhol muse Baby Jane Holzer with a lifetime achievement award. 

Helander was also the moderator at the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary art fair for a discussion of the drawings and sculpture of Tyler K. Smith, who also is a former RISD drawing professor. Helander also exhibited large-scale paintings at the fair, including "Macy's Mickey Mouse ca. 1934". He was also recently  interviewed for the Anderson Cooper 360 program on CNN.
