FREE Drawing Classes with Valerie Wallace

I have been teaching privately and in different school settings for 15 years. I think what I am best at is teaching children and adults the basic steps to making a drawing or painting. I learned everything I know from my teachers at RISD.

I use the steps that I was taught to make it simple so that anyone can follow along and be successful. I work with gifted students at times, but more often I work with kids or adults that have lots of desire, but less confidence.

Within a few days of really understanding what was really happening with COVID-19, I realized that I could do something to help fill the hours for folks at home. I got an iPhone adaptor for my tri-pod and started going live with my classes. I have taught these images for years, so I can kind of anticipate what people will need to know.

I am hitting a variety of subjects so hopefully there is something to spark everyone’s interest. They are fast paced for kids, but available on Facebook and YouTube to watch at your own pace. They are great for someone who has always want to draw, but doesn’t know where to begin, as well as a jumping off point for more experienced artists.

I do one in color and one in charcoal simultaneously, so that you can join in if all you have is a pencil. The goal is to be accessible. I am enjoying reaching my usual students who are getting siblings and parents to join in, as well as kids who are too busy for regular weekly classes. I am thrilled to be connecting with friends and total strangers all over the globe as social media does its thing.
