
Alum awarded the Rolland Rome Prize in Design
The American Academy in Rome announced the winners of the 2023–24 Rome Prize and Italian Fellowships. These highly competitive fellowships support advanced independent work and research in the arts and humanities. This year, the Rome Prize—the gift of “time and space to think and work”—was awarded to 36 American artists and scholars. The Rolland Rome Prize in Design was awarded to David Weeks 90 PT P 24 for his project "Movable Beasts", an ongoing exploration of toy design. "I would work to develop a collection of toys and artifacts with the elegance of Galileo’s explanation of gravity. These large-scale sculptures could be Incorporated into the historic fabric of Rome in ways that are surprising and humorous." David will be in Rome starting September 2023.
