Alum appointed as Capitol Reef National Park's Artist in Residence
East Providence, Rhode Island painter Kathy Hodge 79* PT has been appointed as August 2023 Artist in Residence in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah.
Kathy recently returned from a February artist residency in Zion National Park and is excited to continue to explore, and be inspired by, the amazing landscape of Southern Utah. In her studio in East Providence, Hodge is working on interpreting her impressions of the Utah landscape, ultimately to be presented as a series of large oil paintings to be exhibited in a two-person show at the Providence Art Club in June 2024. Hodge has previously served as AIR in several National Parks on the Colorado Plateau, including Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde and Petrified Forest, in addition to other National Parks and Forests, for a total of 15 Artist Residencies. Artwork, writing and photographs from those residencies can be seen here.
Born in Providence, Kathy Hodge attended Rhode Island School of Design and has a BFA from Swain School of Design in New Bedford. She has exhibited and received awards in many solo and group shows and was granted the Fellowship in Painting from the RI State Council on the Arts in 2017.
