"Blank City"
Blank City, the second solo show from Sae Oh MFA 23 DM runs until July 1 at Floor Seoul in Seoul, South Korea. In this exhibition, she explores blank spaces in urban landscapes with lens-based mediums, including digital and analog cameras, Google Maps, and drones.
Exhibition statement:
In a city are countless blank spaces: construction sites, vacant lots, alleyways, cemeteries, and memorial spaces on the street. These empty page-like spaces, where the original use was eradicated or not yet assigned, reflect the city like a mirror. Just like we see our own deaths when we mourn for the deceased, these spaces make the city look like a large plane of blankness.
The first floor of Blank City is based on the imagination of blanking a city as if putting a white cloth over a shapeless ghost. The second floor explores the “blank” generated from the translatory glitch of memory and technology.
