"3rd Space" Opening
With the opening of 3rd Space, a vacant downtown Boston storefront becomes a gathering place.
This unique, culturally-driven public space aims to be a destination for community building, public discussion, restorative live performances and more.
The group just practice, founded by Amanda Ugorji and Sophie Weston Chien BArch 20, will install its large-scale textile series Soft City, which recounts Boston’s systemic history of racist redlining and its past, present and future impact on Black residents in Greater Boston. The studio VERS Collab, founded by Chelsea Jno Baptiste, Sahil Mohan and Savannah Cheung brings “ISUs” (short for “integrated shelter units”)—an interactive, socio-political artwork that comments on concepts of shelter, housing equity and “hostile architecture.”
3rd Space and its inaugural art installations will be on display from February 2–March 4, 2023.
