Alumni Association Leadership Council Committees

The mission of RISD’s Alumni Association is to engage alumni, students, and friends to support the advancement of RISD.

All graduates from RISD are members of the Alumni Association—a potent network of creative leaders who champion RISD and one another. The Alumni Association is powered by our volunteer community and we are currently seeking members for our five committees listed below.

Affinity Groups Committee

Members are focused on working with the Alumni + Family Relations Office to provide training materials and support for group volunteers, specifically for leading virtual or in-person events that provide opportunities to connect alumni to each other and to RISD. The committee also advises the Alumni + Family Relations staff on content and communications sought by alumni volunteers. 

Terms of Service:

  • An initial two (2) year term with the option to renew. 
  • Terms align with RISD’s fiscal year: July 1–June 30.

Sample Initiatives:

  • RISD Founders Day (March) 
  • East Coast Leadership Meeting 
  • West Coast Leadership Meeting

Global Committee

The Global Committee is charged with increasing engagement among international alumni and families, those living/working abroad, and current international students. This committee will also support Global Clubs and community service initiatives, and assist with organizing international Presidential visits and activities.

Terms of Service:

  • An initial two (2) year term with the option to renew. 
  • Terms align with RISD’s fiscal year:  July 1–June 30.

  • RISD Founders Day (March) 
  • International Families Breakfast (June) 
  • International Summer Welcomes (June–August) 
  • International Families Luncheon (September) 
  • Collaborating with International Student Groups 
  • RISD in … (Presidential and Senior Staff Visits)

Reunion Committee

The Reunion Committee seeks to develop among students, alumni, and friends of RISD an appreciation and pride in RISD’s history, traditions, and culture that build affinity and connection. The committee works to plan and execute reunions, including both reunion programming and reunion class giving during a reunion cycle. It includes subcommittees that organize class-specific programs and events, conduct outreach to their classmates to promote reunion attendance, build excitement for reunion weekend on social media, and collect class materials and photos to be used in the celebration.

Terms of Service:

  • An initial one (1) year term that aligns with RISD’s fiscal year: July 1–June 30.

Alumni Reunions

Student-Alumni Committee

The Student-Alumni Committee supports initiatives that foster life-long engagement among current students and recent alumni. The committee will lead initiatives that connect alumni and students for mentorship, networking opportunities, and career development. Committee members advise the staff on content and communications sought by alumni volunteers.

Terms of Service:

  • An initial two (2) year term with the option to renew. 
  • Terms align with RISD’s fiscal year: July 1–June 30.
