Rising star Anna Weyant makes her mark in the art world
The art world is shining its spotlight on Anna Weyant 17 PT.
Even before Weyant was highlighted by Wall Street Journal on June 18, 2022, news outlets rightly recognized her as a rising star. In May, Weyant’s painting Falling Woman sold at Sotheby’s in New York for $1.62 million. Employing flesh tones and deep browns, Weyant’s work showcases women in contemplative positions, always hinting at a life behind the frame. The detail in her paintings can only be produced by an artist attentive to every touch of light and darkness.
Weyant moved to New York after graduating from RISD in 2017. After briefly working as an event planner and a studio assistant, as well as studying in China, Weyant’s work was exhibited at 56 Henry in 2019. Weyant’s shows at galleries Blum & Poe and Winter Street Gallery, where her drawings were displayed, sold out in 2021.
This fall, Weyant’s work will appear in a solo exhibition at Gagosian in New York. She is currently the youngest artist on Gagosian’s roster. Weyant is just 27, but her unique perspective has already resonated with artists and art aficionados across the world.
