"Content Warning," a solo exhibition
Content Warning is a solo exhibition of new work by artist Kevin Arnold MFA 10 PT.
We live in a tribal landscape where words and messaging have never yielded such power, been so intrusive to our daily lives, yet all the while seeming so flimsy. How do we process this daily flow of messaging? Can we make sense of it, or is there any sense to be made? Not surprisingly we’ve developed self-determined routines to mediate and block unwanted words and ideas altogether. We resort to scan and scroll, we navigate and separate the consequential from the non-essential. Arnold’s new work confronts these challenges by disrupting the viewer's ever-increasing lack of focus and attention. Plays on words and phrasing camouflaged within the work to greater or lesser degrees of visibility question the values we place on accepted norms, highlighting the absurdities of art, culture and everyday life.
