Sustainable Furniture by Hoek

Hoek is the creation of a 5 man team in Red Hook, Brooklyn. It is a line of sleek, sustainable furniture that can be assembled in seconds without the use of tools.

Hoek uses 100% post consumer HDPE for both its legs and chassis (this material is made from a combination of milk jugs and other recycled plastic containers). The tops of the Hoek line uses FSC certified plywood, which ensures that the wood is sourced from an ethically and environmentally sustained forest. At Hoek we aim to both give a second life to materials that otherwise would not have one and limit our footprint in regards to the newer material used.

Circular design was at the forefront of our minds throughout the creation of this line with an aim to reach as close to a zero waste production method as possible. The HDPE used can be recycled up to 10 times with no loss to structural strength. This recycling potential means that if you get tired of your Hoek piece you can send it directly back to us. We will ensure that it is converted into a new HDPE blank ready to be crafted into a piece for a new customer.

Our Patent pending flexible joint uses the materiality of HDPE to allow the legs to click securely into place in seconds. They can be removed just as easily. After removing the legs they are able to click into our patent pending chassis (also constructed out of HDPE) for easy storage or transportation of the piece.
