RISD Club of Hong Kong Visits AP HOUSE MACAU
On December 6, 2025, the Club of Hong Kong visited AP HOUSE MACAU, a serene and carefully crafted space designed by alum Johnny Li BArch 89, founder of LI&Co.
During the visit, Johnny personally guided alumni through the project, sharing the design thinking behind the space. As they moved through the quiet sequence of rooms, every material choice, proportion, and shaft of light felt deliberate.
Johnny reflected that some of the ideas for AP HOUSE MACAU can be traced back to sketches and studio projects from his days at RISD. For the visiting alumni, this was a powerful reminder that concepts developed in the studio do not simply stay on the drawing board: when given the right context, they may return years later as a wall, a window, or a precisely framed beam of light.
The visit also provided a valuable opportunity for Hong Kong–based alumni to reconnect with one another. Through conversations about the project and Johnny’s career path, participants reflected on how their RISD education continues to inform their professional practice and engagement with design.
Lighting fixtures by David Weeks 90 PT are included in the space.
