RISD Names Amanda Clark MacMullan New Vice President for Institutional Advancement

On January 8, President Crystal Williams announced the appointment of Amanda Clark MacMullan as vice president for Institutional Advancement, effective February 1, 2024. Clark MacMullan brings over 20 years of extensive fundraising experience in higher education, arts and culture. 

“I am thrilled to join RISD’s dynamic community at this pivotal moment as the institution approaches its 150th anniversary with a visionary new president,” shared Clark MacMullan.“The innovation, creativity and critical thinking fostered at RISD are qualities so needed in the world today. I look forward to supporting the institution in this work.”


Alumni Art Exchange

Bring joy to someone’s mailbox this Valentine's Day with a piece of mail-ready art—handmade or designed by you! Participating is easy. All you need to do is sign up, get creative and drop your piece in the mail. The deadline to participate is January 25!

At the Museum: Fantasy, Myth, Legend

On view through June 2, 2024 

Explore how artists from the 1700s to today have engaged with the cultural legacy of prehistoric, ancient and medieval Western European history. Thirty prints, drawings and photos offer a range of perspectives on how imagining the past becomes a tool for shaping the present.

Art is fanciful?

President Crystal Williams’ recent op-ed in the Art Newspaper about RISD’s involvement with the Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Terra Carta Design Lab (TCDL) discusses leveraging art and design to address social issues. The TCDL is accepting applications from recent alumni and current students. Due to high interest, RISD recently extended the deadline to February 12.

Affinity Group Spotlight: RISD Women In Business 

RISD Women in Business offers professional development and networking opportunities for students and alumni regardless of career stage. This February, Women in Business joins RISD’s student-run E’Ship entrepreneurial organization for a panel discussion on building and navigating a creative business. Inaugural Major Survey Show Helps RISD First-Years Select Majors

Through January 28

Although designed to help first-year students select majors, this exhibition in the Gelman Student Gallery is open to the public. Departments selected work by current students and recent alumni, offering visitors a sense of core focus, values and personality, as well as wall text elaborating on its mission and curriculum.

Federal Direct Student Loan Repayment

Federal Direct student loan payments resumed in October 2023. To assist with this transition, RISD Student Financial Services (SFS) created an online step-by-step guide for federal student loan borrowers. If you have questions about this process please contact SFS at sfs@risd.edu or 401 454-6661.
