Raymond A. DeCesare (1936-2025)

Raymond “Ray” A. DeCesare, AIA, CSI, RI Architect Emeritus, 88, of Warwick RI and born in Providence, passed away Wednesday, March, 5, 2025. He was the loving husband and best friend of Nancy G. (Nickerson) DeCesare, to whom he shared 65 beautiful years of marriage. He was the son of the late Rodosindo and Rachaela (Cinquegrana) DeCesare.

In addition to his wife, he proudly leaves his loving children, Lisa D. Curry and her husband David of Warwick, and John R. DeCesare and his partner, Rhea Harkins of Plymouth, MA; adored grandchildren, Daniel, Rachael, Samantha, Emma, and Addison; four nieces; and three nephews. Raymond was the brother of the late Arthur DeCesare and Jeanne Majesky.

Raymond graduated from RISD in 1959 with a BS in Architecture and went on to join the Providence firm of Robinson Green Beretta. As a dedicated employee, he worked with RGB for 42 years, serving in various capacities, including the position of President. Ray served his profession in many ways as a Member and past President of the RI Board of Examination & Registration of Architects, as well as the past President for RI Chapters of AIA & SCI. He also taught a class at Roger Williams University for 20 years. Upon retirement, Ray served his community by mentoring and volunteering at the Senior Center and the Blood Center. He served for 70 plus years with the Providence Boys & Girls Clubs, where he was a member, a Board Member and past President. He was also a former Member of the University Club and a Member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club. He was a life-long resident and volunteer in his beloved community of Buttonwoods.
