Building Ruins

The Alumni Club of India is excited to share the concept note for their 2020 exhibition. Based on deliberations upon the RISD approach to design education with their curator, the club has finalized this year's show to be mounted through the framework of "Building Ruins."

Anuj Daga, the club's curator has chalked out a brief prompt—which you can find on their Facebook page—that will allow you to think through the notion of "Building Ruins." The brief invites your reflection on making and breaking, as much as construction and failures—values central to our education at RISD. The club hopes that the concept will inspire you to take another look at your practices or offer new solutions to the puzzle of building ruins. Some other notes for the submission process are included in the concept note.

In order to have a logistical sense for the exhibition, the club requests you send ideas and proposals by September 15, 2019. This will allow them to hone their curatorial process. Once they receive your thoughts, they will respond to you by October 1, 2019, with feedback from the curator, if any.

Should you have any doubts regarding the curatorial note, feel free to discuss it with Anuj at anujdaga1@gmail.com. You are welcome to discuss your proposal towards the show with the curator before (as well as after) submission.

Please fill out your information on the RISD India 2020 Exhibition Contact Form. The Alumni Club of India looks forward to your enthusiastic participation and representation at the RISD alumni show in 2020.
