Book release: "Painted by Rain"
Painted by Rain, a debut art book from Chelsea Danburg 96 TX, is published and available for sale on Chelsea's website BluJoyWrks.com.
In late summer, 18 months into the pandemic, Chelsea found herself filling a notebook with words...sitting in sand, watching the waves, her first poems crashing onto the pages, diving into a new art form, one that is raw, divine...Painted by Rain was born. It is deeply personal—diving into Chelsea's struggles with addiction, miscarriage, parenting and creativity bottled up inside.
Painted by Rain combines Chelsea's poetry, photography and hand-drawn elements into a moving art piece. The book is accordion folded to express continuous thought and the unfolding of Chelsea's inner landscape. The viewer can turn the pages like a normal book, or open the book out to its full length to view it as one long, fluid art piece. (This artbook is 7” by 7” when folded, and it unfolds to 13 1/2 feet long when fully open.)
Painted by Rain was created in collaboration with design synergist Monica Austin. The book has an accompanying soundscape made by musician Sarah LeMieux. Painted by Rain is self-published and printed in West Haven, CT at GHB Media; its first press is 100 copies.
Painted by Rain’s tactile, folded construction, photography and poetry create a multifaceted experience that is strikingly profound.
