Calamity, interrogation, karma, end, and knot—all share the sound “jiē" in Chinese, a singular resonance binding distant flavors of experience. Hair braiding is seen as a form of “jiē”, a vessel of memory and sentiment. It bears the touch of loved ones, growing steadily from past to present. In the weaving of strands, these “jiē” are inseparable.
Knot by knot, weaving a rhythm that resists finality, unraveling the illusion of an end, so that all may flow endlessly into being.
