"Puffin's Lament"

The Atlantic Puffin is a magical bird found up here in coastal Maine. It is listed as vulnerable to extinction by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. My work often expresses my personal despair over ecologically damaged systems that have been overlooked for so long but not painted in a morose way but with charged colors to convey a sublime reverence. Illustration taught me how to mix together an array of image and text based research into drawings and paintings that have led to a successful fine art career.
