Suzanne Stewart 71 IA has published a historical novel inspired by her varied and interesting life after graduating from RISD.
This book was a result of living and working in Hawaii and marrying an Asian and raising half Asian children on the mainland. Most people do not know the struggles of the Japanese women who immigrated to Hawaii around 1900. I have written and published an historical novel that I would like to share with alumnae.
There are illustrations in the book and there is much description of a Japanese merchant's home. The creativity is in the story and elaborate descriptions that portray the scenes. RISD taught me that creativity is boundless. - Suzanne Stewart
