The Road to Harry Potter and Other Jobs
The RISD Alumni Association invites you to join us for a special virtual presentation with illustrator Dolores Avendaño 93 IL. Best known for illustrating the Harry Potter covers for the Spanish editions of the series (published in Spain and Latin America), Avendaño has worked with publishers and private clients across the globe, including in the USA, Italy, Spain, England, Perú and Argentina. Additionally, Avendaño's illustrations have been exhibited at cultural centers and museums across Argentina.
In her virtual presentation, Avendaño will discuss her experience as a student at RISD, her first illustration job and overcoming creative anxiety, the ups and downs of her life as an illustrator, and how the Harry Potter series impacted her life. She will share how she overcame moments of uncertainty and what she felt were the essential things that helped her move forward and achieve her illustration dreams.
