"Risham Syed: Destiny Fractured"
Feiyi Bie MArch 17, who currently works as Exhibition Designer at The Newark Museum of Art, recently designed the exhibition "Risham Syed: Destiny Fractured."
The groundbreaking exhibition, part of The Newark Museum's Global Contemporary series, features artist Risham Syed as the sixth artist to develop works based on the museum's collection, addressing pressing themes of colonialism, capitalism, and climate change. This immersive exhibition showcases Syed's work across multiple mediums, including videos, embroidered silk panels, installations with paintings and objects, and printed textiles. Drawing inspiration from diverse elements of the NMOA collection, including American landscapes, Chinese scroll paintings, and the period rooms in The Ballantine House. Syed has created new artworks that are presented alongside her previous installations and museum collection objects in the Global Contemporary gallery.
The exhibition runs through March 7, 2027, demonstrating the museum's commitment to presenting contemporary global voices in a thoughtful and long-term manner.
