RISD Black Alumni & Club of Rhode Island Artist Preview at AS220

Sat, September 13, 2025 at 4 pm to 5 pm
Aborn Gallery at AS220
95 Empire St, Providence, RI 02903

RISD Black Alumni and the Club of Rhode Island invite you for a special preview of the upcoming exhibition GO ‘HEAD, FIX YOU A PLATE. AS220 Curators and exhibiting artists, including Jazzmen Lee-Johnson 08 FAV and Jordan Seaberry 14 PT, will join us for our exclusive preview hour to answer questions and discuss the exhibition.

Co-curated by Jazzmen Lee-Johnson and Persephone Allen, GO ‘HEAD, FIX YOU A PLATE presents works inspired by questions of memory, history, grief, and family. The exhibition features new works by Jazzmen Lee-Johnson, who invited Becci Davis, Jordan Seaberry 14 PT and Dominique Sindayiganza to join her in exploring the universal need for spaces of self expression, cultural tradition, pleasure, rest, and dreaming while reckoning with the complexity of how to be at home in the United States amidst inherited and lived experiences of racism, violence, oppression, and incarceration. Together their work transforms AS220’s Aborn Gallery into a space of rest, reckoning and resistance.

This is a free event, but we ask that you RSVP in advance to provide us with a headcount. Alumni and guests are invited to stay after our preview for the public reception at 5 pm. Refreshments will be served.
