Profound Adventures from my Residencies

Since things have slowed down I feel like I have some real time and desire to connect. Especially with other artists!

I did my graduate studies at RISD in 1995 (MFA ceramics). Since that time I've had a deep career as teacher, artist, grant writer, mother and more recently international artist. I'm writing to share some pics. from my last two years abroad in China.

In 2018 I was honored with a Blanc de Chine International Artists Residency in Dehua China. Dehua is the city of the most refined, pure, and whitest porcelain. I spent two months there. Last year I was chosen by Bai Ming to be an artist in residence at the Shangyu Celadon Center for International artists, City of the oldest celadon production and kilns . This was another amazing invite filled with mysterious materials and techniques. Both residencies were profound adventures artistically and culturally. Both produced work that went to museums and traveling exhibitions.

The work I created during both stays was different than anything I had ever created and the material was beyond precious. You can see my blog on my website provided below for some parts of the experience. Shangyu also generated a story about my work there.
