
New Trustee at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum
John Schroeder, Principal at John R. Schroeder, AIA in Chester, CT, was recently named Trustee at The Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London, Connecticut.
The museum was founded in 1926 adjacent to Connecticut College and The Coast Guard Academy. The museum opened in 1932 and today boasts a permanent collection of over 17,000 paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, furniture, and decorative arts with an emphasis on American art from the 18th through 20th centuries
The Museum is comprised of nine galleries, an auditorium, bookstore, research library, art studio and conservation labs. It offers a comprehensive collection of European art as well as American fine and decorative arts including a new permanent exhibition featuring the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany whose family hails from the Thames River Valley. John was most recently Trustee at The Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts.
