"The Habits of Reframing"
Abigail Ogilvy Gallery proudly presents The Habits of Reframing, a solo presentation of artwork by Boston-based artist and craftsperson Alison Croney Moses 06 FD.
Working primarily in wood, the exhibition debuts two new series by the artist which reminds us that we possess the power to shape how we view ourselves through our own experiences and the world around us. Through these works Croney Moses reframes her own identity as an artist while also taking the values taught to us and holding them against a mirror of our own reality to bring into view the misalignment— knowing now that we should celebrate our scars without minimizing the hurt that caused them, and reframing perfection to embody imperfection. Alison Croney Moses creates wooden objects that reach out to your senses – the smell of cedar, the color of honey or the deep blue sea, the round form that signifies safety and warmth, the gentle curve that beckons to be touched.
The exhibition runs September 1 through October 22. An Opening Reception with Artist will be held on September 8 from 6-8 pm. There will also be an Artist Talk with Boston Sculptors Gallery on September 21 from 6-8 pm and an Artist Talk at the Gallery on October 5.
