Gov. Raimondo Announces Relief Fund for Rhode Island Art Community
Gov. Raimondo has announced a relief fund to help the art community in Rhode Island during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The governor acknowledged the difficulties burdening artists as they continue to navigate through the global crisis.
Raimondo stated, “The reality is, right now, our galleries and studios and stages are dark. So, if you're trying to make a living as an artist, it's incredibly hard."
Artists are encouraged to file for unemployment, however Gov. Raimondo announced the "Rhode Island Artist Relief Fund" to aid the art community.
"It awards grants of up to $1,000 to help artists, art teachers, arts administrators, and other freelance arts and culture workers to get through these tough times," said Raimondo.
