Following the Winding Path of my Career
My years at RISD were a time to build a foundation of varied skills. Those skills have allowed me to evolve my career along a winding path. Illustration gave way to graphic design which morphed into web design with branches into online marketing and SEO.
Today I draw on each of these elements in building and growing a niche destination vacation rental web site. Launched just over 4 years ago, the site is the largest free open marketplace for browsing and booking a place to stay on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Unlike the mega travel sites, that position themselves like a toll booth between hosts and guest, my site provides a no-fee platform (No commissions on owners and No guest service fees). Whether a visitor is looking for a romantic island cottage, an in-town condo, a lux'-relaxed B&B, large resort or private luxury villa ... they'll find it in our pages.
Without the skills, training and instruction I received at RISD I would never have been able to develop, build and grow the site. My RISD education gave me the ability to follow this winding path.
