Club of Silicon Valley Tour of the Computer History Museum
The Club of Silicon Valley invites you to a private tour of the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. We will explore the museum’s main exhibits, then gather outside near the cafe for snacks, beverages, and time to mingle. If you are a recent RISD grad, new to the area, or just an alum looking to reconnect with RISD, this is an excellent way to get to know our community.
The museum highlights the fascinating history of computing, from ancient tools to today’s digital innovations. These include interactive displays, vintage hardware such as a functional IBM 1401 computer, and the chance to play Spacewar! on the original DEC PDP-1. A centerpiece at the museum is the acclaimed exhibit Revolution: The First 2,000 Years of Computing, which traces the people and ideas that shaped the digital age.
Advance registration is required by October 17, so we can secure the tour reservation. The fee is $8 for alumni & guests, $5 for recent alumni (2015-2024 grads), and free for 2025 graduates. The club is subsidizing the $24 museum entry fee and snacks at the cafe. After socializing, guests are welcome to return to the exhibition until it closes at 5 pm.
