Book release: "One Thursday Afternoon"
Barbara DiLorenzo 98 IL has published her third picture book, One Thursday Afternoon, with Flyaway Books.
One Thursday Afternoon focuses on a young girl's anxiety following a lockdown drill at school. She shares her feelings with her grandfather as they spend an afternoon at the park, painting en plein air.
The book is gaining press from literary outlets like Publishers Weekly, Kirkus, School Library Journal and TeachingBooks. DiLorenzo writes, "Although I'm proud of the work that went into the book, I'm sad it's needed. But I'm hopeful that it will help students and adults break the ice on hard conversations. I also hope that the tools used in the book help students—sharing with someone they trust, spending time in nature and creating something."
