Whether we’re gazing at a mountain range or across a mill pond, atmosphere defines the space between the observer and the water, soil, hills, rock. It shifts at every moment. Clouds recede and light flickers across the water. The air seems to thicken and a new shadow defines the edge of a mountainside. A variation of color marks the sky below and above the clouds. This work reflects the many atmospheric shifts in my life, translating the energy into paint. Some vibrate with darkness. Others feel about to float off the canvas. Across those contrasts, my hope is that viewers find a measure of beauty and peace in the atmospheres of these paintings.
