A Community Together

There was so much to celebrate this year. Regional alumni clubs across the globe gathered together, hosting potlucks, meetups, museum and gallery tours, film festival outings and more! We also welcomed new clubs to our global community with the newly formed Clubs of Atlanta, Dallas, the Hudson Valley and North Carolina.

Alumni Clubs in Boston, Beijing, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Rhode Island, San Francisco and Shanghai held events during our Founders Day Global Days of Service. They supported their local communities by organizing cleanups at parks and beaches, volunteering at food pantries, teaching art, taking part in book drives and compiling books and tools for the National Braille Press.

In July and August, we welcomed new RISD Families at “Summer Welcome” events domestically and internationally and celebrated new faces at “Welcome to the Neighborhood” events in September and October. In addition, we were honored to host RISD President Crystal Williams at “RISD in Your City” events throughout the fall!

Our affinity groups continued to provide authentic, alumni-driven content in the virtual world. RISD Alumni in Painting launched with a series of virtual alumni artist studio tours. RISD Founders and Entrepreneurs and RISD Women in Business hosted several career-building webinars. RISD Reads dove into even more great books. RISD Black Alumni held the fourth installment of their “What are we up to now” series. RISD Zero Waste got together in NYC for a creative reuse workshop.

During the June Commencement + Reunion Weekend celebration, RISD Asian Alumni, RISD Black Alumni, RISD First Gen Alumni, RISD Latin+(más), RISD Queer Alumni and RISD Women in Business hosted in-person receptions at Ewing House. RISD Queer Alumni also sponsored a booth at RI PrideFest later in the month.
