This image was taken from "An Artist's ABCs: Little Katya Explains the Elements of Art," a children's book I wrote, illustrated and self-published. The idea came to me over years of work as a Providence Public School Art teacher, and struggling to find books which would explain the subject in a way which worked for my Elementary students. So, I decided to create my own. As with most of my work, it hearkens back to my time studying Illustration at RISD: a commitment to take the discipline of Art with earnest seriousness while simultaneously preserving a sense of fun and play at all times.
