Bird-Friendly & Native Garden Plants

Watercolor, Adobe Photoshop
17x 22 inches

During my time as a Bartels Science Illustrator at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology (an internship/artist in residency program), I was given the opportunity to design my own project. I am passionate about supporting local wildlife and biodiversity through native planting and knew immediately I wanted to create artwork that would bring attention to this cause. After months of planning and conducting my own research, I worked with a team across multiple departments at the lab, to create a poster detailing the interactions between backyard birds and native plants across the US. By planting native, we can boost biodiversity and support entire ecological networks. Through this poster, I hope to inspire others to learn more and start planting native.

This poster was created for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology under the art direction of Jillian Ditner. I created all original watercolor illustrations and designed the layout. Jillian Ditner created the title and graphic design elements.
