Ewing Multicultural Center

41 Waterman St
Providence, RI 02906

The two story building has no accessible approaches or entrances, and no elevator or lift. The interior routes between the north and south ends of each floor require the use of stairs, and the corridors are less than 36" wide. Many doors are less than 36" wide, have non-ADA thresholds and none of them have accessible hardware. The bathrooms are also not accessible.

Memorial Hall, Tap Room

226 Benefit St
Providence, RI 02903

The front entry is not accessible, but the building can be accessed via a new significant entry. An elevator connects all occupied floors and each floor plate is on the same level. Corridors, doors to occupied spaces, restrooms, water fountains and accessories appear to have been designed for wheelchair passage and universal access, and to be performing as designed.

President's House

132 Bowen St
Providence, RI 02906

The front entrance requires the use of stairs and has a difficult access route. A secondary entrance, at the back of the house is accessible; an accessible route is present from the street, and a lift provides access to the deck and main living floor, where gathering and meeting rooms are located. The main floor has a bathroom with some accessible features. There is no elevator in the building and no universal access to the upper floors. Doors vary in size, threshold design and hardware, most are not universally accessible.

RISD Nature Lab

13 Waterman St
Providence, RI 02903

The main entrance to this academic use building is via a steep set of stairs to the second level. A secondary, highly used, side entrance on the first level is universally accessible. A single unisex accessible restroom is present on the first level. An elevator connecting all levels is too small to be considered fully accessible, and requires the use of a key. Most doorways have adequate clearance.

The Met Refectory

30 Waterman St
Providence, RI 02912

There is a partially accessible elevator present in the connected Clock Tower building that can be reached by an indirect accessible route in the back. This elevator provides the only accessible route to three Refectory levels; fitness, dining, and meeting rooms. The fitness center and refectory restrooms have some accessible features but are not fully accessible. Interior doors used by students generally meet accessibility requirements.

The building is used by the entire RISD community and the public. The main entry is not universally accessible. A secondary entry ramp approach and ramped entry are present but not fully conforming. There is no functional elevator in the building. Interior floor plates have some changes in level, and the bathrooms are not universally accessible. Most interior doors are not fully compliant, they vary in size, and while some are adequately clear, most are not. Most door hardware is not lever style, and most wood thresholds are too high.

While on campus during community events anyone can access RISD Rides through Public Safety if they have issues getting around.
