Club of Colorado Field Cyanotype Making
The Club of Colorado invites you for a family-friendly, art-making meetup in conjunction with the Colorado Native Plant Society’s (CoNPS) Seed Collection event in San Isabel National Forest.
This is a two-part event, and you can choose to attend one or both of the outings. On Thursday, we will gather at Gallery 420 to learn about creating Cyanotypes. Attendees can bring their own surfaces or choose from a selection of provided paper and fabric. After talking about how to expose cyanotypes in the field and go over the various processes participants have tried, we will prepare our surfaces with cyanotype solution.
For those who are interested, on Friday & Saturday we will meet up at the Colorado Native Plant Society (CoNPS) Seed Collection event. We will bring the newly prepared, but unexposed, cyanotype surfaces into the field to expose them during the seed collection to support the USDA Rocky Mountain Region Native Plant Materials Program. Please note that to take part in the Seed Collection event, you must also register through their website, a link is provided in your confirmation email.
Participants may register for just the Thursday event, the Thursday event and one or both of the CoNPS events, or just the CoNPS events. You are welcome to take your prepared surfaces from our Thursday event and expose cyanotypes on your own. For alums who want to take part in the Seed Collection event but are unable to attend our cyanotype preparations workshop, extra surfaces will be prepared for 'field kits' for the CoNPS Seed Collection event.
Registration is $5 for alumni and guests, which includes all refreshments and materials. Please register in advance to give us an accurate count for supplies.
